Vivienne Glance is a poet, playwright, and performer. Her poetry has appeared in journals (including Westerly, Blue Dog, indigo, TEXT, Colloquy) and she has won places and commendations in competitions. Sunline Press published her poetry collection, ‘The Softness of Water,’ in 2009. Her work is featured in the anthologies Amber Contains the Sun (Quintessence Poets / Department of Culture and the Arts), Open Boat Barbed Wire Sky: Poems for Refugees (Live Poets Press), The Weighing of the Heart (Sunline Press/OOTA), 22 (writingWA) and in several editions of Cottonmouth. A Small Rain (Lethologica Press), a collection of poetry with photographs by Perdita Phillips, will be published in February 2012. As a performance poet, Vivienne has appeared at the Night Words Festival in the Sydney Opera House Studio, Perth Writers Festival, Albany’s Sprung Writers Festival, Geraldton’s Big Sky Festival, writingWA’s Apropos Poetry and WA Spring Poetry Festivals. Vivienne has also worked with Sudanese poet and playwright Afeif Ismail for several years, co-transcreating his work into English.
Her full length plays have been produced in Seattle, London and Edinburgh and her short plays in Perth and Sydney. As a professional actor and theatre director with over twenty years experience, Vivienne has worked in Australia, Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Western Australia, researching science in theatre and performance.
