Whether they're exploring the nuances of traditional works or conquering contemporary pieces, the Escher String Quartet bring a riveting blend of energy and audacity to each and every stage they play.
Regarded as one of the most dynamic young groups on the planet, these BBC New Generation Artists have built their reputation by expertly balancing inspired individualism with amazing quartet cohesion.
For the 2012 Festival they and special guests pair Brahms' melodious and moving quartets and quintets with contemporary pieces in three exciting concerts.
The group combined ripe tonal balances with the kind of heedless intensity that comes with youth. SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
Joined by internationally renowned composer/violist Brett Dean, the Escher String Quartet displays complete mastery of the rich textures and intense passion of Brahms' first viola quintet, a creation of which the composer said, 'you have never before had such a beautiful work from me'. The Quartet then pay homage to Dean in a performance of his brooding, forceful and moving Eclipse.
